The GMA Network committed 3 violations that led to the tragic death of veteran actor Eddie Garcia, said Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday.

KAMI learned that the investigation on the actor’s passing is still on-going, and the Labor Department already released the initial result of its probe.

According to Sarah Buena Mirasol, the director of DOLE in National Capital Region, GMA-7 did not ensure the presence of a safety officer during the shooting.

The giant network also failed to provide a first aid responder, who could have immediately attended to the unconscious celebrity when he collapsed on the ground.

Aside from these, the said channel did not submit an incident report within 24 hours when the heartbreaking accident happened.

Because of the violations, GMA-7 may face punishments as indicated in the Republic Act No. 11058, or the Occupational Safety and Health law.

It said that employers and contractors who expose their employees to death or serious injury by their disobedience of the occupational health standards will be fined ₱100,000 daily until the violation is corrected.

Silvestre Bello III, the secretary of DOLE, even told CNN Philippines before that GMA-7 might face suspension because of what happened in one of its tapings.

As of the time of writing, there is no official announcement from DOLE regarding the charges that the said network will face due to the violations. Their meeting will happen on September 16.
