The iPod: A History of a game-changing device

At the end of January, Apple announced its Q1 figures, offering a breakdown in revenue, iPhone and iPad sales - as well as revealing a big drop in iPod sales.

The company sold 6 million iPod units in Q4 2013, which was down over 50% compared to the same quarter last year. That's not surprising given that the Cupertino-based company hasn't announced a new iPod model since September 2012. And then there's the competition that a humble MP3 player faces in a world dominated by ever-connected digital devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Even so, it's a device that changed the way people buy, consume and share music and it's one of the bestselling consumer tech products of all time. So we're sad to see it's on its last legs.

22-year-old student accuses Vhong Navarro of attempted rape

Another angle surfaces.

This time, a new report claims comedian-TV host was involved in an attempted rape incident, as seen in a complaint filed before the Taguig police on Wednesday (January 22).

In a report on GMA-7’s “24 Oras Weekend,” a police blotter that had Ferdinand Navarro's (Vhong's real name) signature showed the complaint filed by an unidentified 22-year-old student.

According to the complainant, Vhong came to her condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City at around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

While inside the unit, the woman got surprised when the “It’s Showtime” host allegedly touched her hand and pulled her hair.

The 22-year-old student claimed to have fought back and ran to her bedroom to seek refuge—but Vhong supposedly chased after her, forcibly pushed her to bed as the TV host attempted to pull down her shorts.

Two men allegedly came in and made a “citizen arrest” to rescue their friend from Vhong’s advances.

They then brought the TV host to the police station where they filed a blotter.

At the end of the affidavit, the woman said she would no longer pursue a case against Vhong.

Roño’s version of the incident

The version of Vhong’s manager, Chito Roño, was different.

In a text message sent to Yahoo Philippines OMG! Saturday, the manager-filmmaker seems to dismiss the blotter's authencity.

"That is the mising blotter that suddenly resurfaced," he said. "It was not found in any precinct in Taguig yesterday."

He added, "The police chief was reported to have denied it existed. We are as keen as you are how GMA got it."

On Friday, the multi-awarded director related that Vhong is a victim of extortion and said threats against the actor remain even while he is still recovering.

Roño said Vhong is scheduled to undergo surgery and that “it will take time before he recovers.”

"Si Vhong Navarro ay naimbitihan sa isang condominium unit sa Fort ng isang kaibigang babae. At sa di pa malamang kadahilanan, siya ay piniringan, pinagtulungang bugbugin, ginapos, tinakot, at hinihingan ng pera ng isang grupo ng kalalakihan noong January 22, Miyerkules,” Roño said in an earlier statement.
